The UCLA Archaeology Field Program, which is administered through the UCLA International Education Office and the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, offers an extensive range of national and international research opportunities for students to participate in real field archaeology. Participating in field research is one of the hallmarks of good archaeological training since archaeology is done principally in the field, where a wide range of data is carefully documented, removed from its original context, and then collected. The Cotsen Institute believes that archaeology can be a transforming force for the global community and each program aims to enrich the students academically and culturally. Covering a wide swath of ancient time periods, our programs are directed by leading scholars and offer 12 units of UCLA credit each.
