Research Interests

At present, my research interests are the politics of the past in both ancient and modern society, and the socio-political impacts of ancient technology and innovation. I am writing a book-length study on the use of the past in the Hittite kingdoms of the Iron Age. Also, I am co-directing a multi-period excavation on the Tigris River in Turkey, at Kenan Tepe. I am engaged in a multi-year project to publish the post-2000 BC remains from Tell al-Judaidah in the Hatay, Turkey and will undertake an intensive survey there in June, 2009.
