Former CIOA Director Tim Earle elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Congratulations to Fellow Tim Earle, Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at Northwestern University, who has just been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, recognizing his ground-breaking work on the rise of early chiefdoms and states. Tim is one of 204 new members recognized this year by one of America’s most prestigious learned societies. The Academy membership of 4,600 Fellows and 600 Foreign Honorary Members includes more than 250 Nobel laureates and 60 Pulitzer Prize winners.

Professor Tim Earle was Professor of Anthropology at UCLA from 1973-1995 and Director of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA from 1987-1992.
