Stable Isotopic Analyses and Animal Domestication and Management

Dr. Cheryl Makarewicz
Post-Doctoral Scholar in the Archaeology Center at Stanford University

Cheryl Makarewicz is a post-doctoral researcher examining the evolution of human-animal interactions and the transition from hunter-gather to food-producing societies using a combination of light stable isotopic, zooarchaeological, excavation, and field-based approaches. She is also the principle investigator and excavation director at el-Hemmeh, a Pre-Pottery Neolithic site located in the Wadi el-Hasa, Jordan.  She will discuss her research which uses stable isotopic analyses to document animal domestication and management.  She will also be presenting recent developments in archaeology relating to the current state of isotopic analysis.
