Chip Stanish recognized in Archaeology magazine

The discoveries of the expedition directed by Charles Stanish at two large political centers, Taraco and Pukara in Lake Titicaca basin, Peru, dated to the last centuries BCE and first centuries CE, were recently recognized by the Archaeology magazine as one of the top 10 archaeological discoveries of 2011. The archaeological evidence of conflict between Taraco and Pukara shed light on the role of warfare in archaic primary state formation.
